Step by Step

What actually happens on the day

1

Prepare the day before

Keep your passport ready, make sure your phone has data, and have cash prepared for border fees. If your booking includes a Vietnam visa, send passport and selfie uploads before the trip so the documents are ready before departure.

Double-check the passport expiry date, make sure the passport has enough blank pages, and keep any previous entry or exit stamps visible and easy to find. If you are traveling with children, family members, or a group, keep the passports together in one place so nothing gets misplaced during pickup. Save the WhatsApp photos to your phone before leaving so you can open them quickly at the border without searching through messages. For Cambodia payments, carry small cash notes because several travelers were instructed to keep 4 x 50,000 VND ready for official stamp fees, plus separate cash for the Cambodia visa when applicable. For printed documents, prepare a few 20,000 VND notes if a page needs to be printed during the trip.

2

Pickup and transfer

For Da Lat trips, start with the shuttle or bus handoff, then continue toward Moc Bai. For HCMC trips, the car comes directly to the pickup point. Use the location pin and vehicle photo to find the correct car.

Arrive a few minutes early if possible. The pickup photo normally shows the vehicle type, color, license plate, and the exact place to stand. If the road is narrow, the car may stop at the nearest accessible corner instead of the exact building door, so compare the photo with the street view around you. If you are using a sleeper bus connection, confirm the seat number and departure time before boarding so you do not miss the transfer. In some trips the vehicle details are sent as a license plate photo and a location pin together; both matter because the car can be waiting a short walk away from the pin.

3

Vietnam exit at Moc Bai

When you reach Moc Bai, go into the main hall and follow the exit procedure line. Look for the queue marked for passport exit, place the requested cash inside the passport if needed, and proceed to the officer.

The important part is to stay in the correct line and keep the passport open and ready when requested. If there are several counters, use the line that matches the exit procedure shown in the photos. Keep your documents in your hand, not in your bag, because you may need to show the passport several times in a row. In the examples we received, the exit step was clearly separated from the next walking route, so do not rush ahead until the exit stamp is complete and readable.

4

Cambodia side

Walk across to Bavet and complete the Cambodia side procedures. If you booked a Cambodia visa, fill out the form as shown in the sample photo and pay the requested fee at the counter.

Use the sample photo to copy the form layout carefully. Fill in the name, passport number, nationality, date, and signature exactly as shown. Keep the passport with the cash ready for the visa payment window, and do not hand cash to random people outside the official counter. Once the visa is inserted or the entry is stamped, compare the result with the example images before you leave the building. In the trip messages, travelers were often asked to send a clear photo of the Cambodia entry stamp immediately after it was issued. If the queue is long, stay patient and wait in the correct line rather than changing counters on your own.

5

Return to Vietnam

After the Cambodia stop, return to the Vietnam side and collect your next stamp. If your booking includes a Vietnam visa add-on, print the document if required and keep the stamped passport photo for the next step.

Before you walk away, inspect the passport page and make sure the stamp is clear, straight, and complete. If a printed visa is required, keep it folded cleanly and place it where it will not get wet or bent during the return journey. This is also the point where you should verify that every page needed for the trip has been completed before boarding back. If the document needs printing, keep a copy ready in advance so you are not searching for a print shop after the stamp is issued. Several chats showed guests being told to print one copy or two copies depending on the document type, so keep extra cash available for that small cost.

6

Ride home

The return drive runs back through Tay Ninh and up toward Da Lat or Bao Loc. Check the seat number, bus details, and return-time photos before boarding.

The return vehicle may differ from the outbound vehicle, so compare the license plate and seat details again before getting on. If you are dropped at a transfer point, do not leave the stop until you are sure you are on the correct onward vehicle. Keep your passport and any printed visa documents with you rather than placing them in the luggage compartment. When the seat number or boarding time is shared, treat it as final and board the correct vehicle only once you can match the photo, plate number, and seat information.

Moc Bai Walkthrough

Detailed checkpoint route at Moc Bai

This is the part most guests need most. It follows the exact border sequence: entry to the complex, exit procedure at Vietnam, crossing to Bavet, Cambodia paperwork, and the return stamp. Keep this section open on your phone while you walk so you can compare the photo and the text at each step.

A

1. Enter the border complex and locate the exit hall

When you arrive at the Moc Bai border gate, enter the main hall and move toward the immigration area marked for exit procedures. In the example photos, the correct area is shown by the large hall entrance and the “exit gate” direction. Do not walk straight through the complex without checking the signage, because the building contains multiple checkpoints and counters.

The safest approach is to stop at the main hall, compare the photo in the gallery, and only continue once the border exit area matches the visual reference. If there are several possible directions, choose the one that leads to the passport exit line rather than the business or parking area.

B

2. Join the passport exit queue

At the Vietnam side, use the queue dedicated to passport exit. In the chats, travelers were told to stay on the right-hand side if that was the line marked for exit procedures. Keep your passport in your hand, open it when requested, and do not place it back inside your bag between counters.

Cash should already be prepared before you reach the officer. The examples repeatedly mention 50,000 VND placed inside the passport for the officer or office that stamps the passport. If the situation is different on the day, use the photo and the sign on the counter to confirm the correct line before paying.

C

3. Confirm the exit stamp before moving on

After the passport is stamped out of Vietnam, stop and check that the stamp is clear and readable. Do not hurry to the next building until the stamp is complete, because the next step depends on having a clean exit mark in the passport. If the exit stamp photo is requested, take a straight-on photo and keep it ready in your phone gallery.

Some travelers also received seat and license plate photos at this stage, so keep the vehicle information available if you need to return to the car later. The main rule is simple: exit stamp first, then walk on.

D

4. Cross to the Cambodia side

Walk across the border line into Bavet and continue to the Cambodia immigration building. The procedure in the examples is to enter the Cambodian side, move to the correct counter, and follow the visa or entry-stamp process shown in the sample images. If a form is required, compare your form against the WhatsApp photo and fill each field in the same order.

If you need a Cambodia visa, keep the printed fee money ready and do not hand cash to anyone except the official counter. In the chats, the visa fee shown for the sticker was 1,000,000 VND, and travelers were told to use the counter and the form exactly as shown in the reference photos.

E

5. Send the stamp photo and verify the next step

Once the Cambodia stamp is issued, take a clear photo immediately. In the chats, travelers were asked to send the entry stamp photo as soon as it was issued, because the next step depended on checking that the stamp was correct. If you are not sure whether the stamp is complete, compare it to the example image before walking away.

If you also have Vietnam visa paperwork to submit or print, use the same pause to make sure the documents are ready. This is where many travelers slow down and verify the paperwork one last time so they do not have to turn back later.

F

6. Return through the same route and board the correct vehicle

When the border sequence is finished, return through the same route and board the correct return vehicle. Check the seat number, bus details, license plate, and return timing before getting on. Several trip messages showed the seat number being shared in advance, so match the vehicle photo with the plate and your assigned seat before boarding.

If the trip includes a transfer point, stay there until the onward vehicle is clearly confirmed. Keep your passport, cash, and printed documents in your hand luggage rather than in the cargo area so you can reach them immediately if needed.
