The bottom line

How much a Da Lat visa run really costs

A Da Lat to Moc Bai visa run has three separate line items: getting to the border and back, the Cambodia visa you buy on arrival, and the Vietnam visa you need to re-enter. Most people only think about the first one, then get surprised at the border.

In 2026 the numbers are straightforward. Transport starts at 2,500,000 VND for the sleeper bus + car combo and 5,000,000 VND for a private car that seats up to four. The Cambodia visa is 1,100,000 VND when our fixer handles it. The 90-day Vietnam E-Visa add-on runs 2,400,000 VND for single entry or 3,100,000 VND for multiple entry. Everything below is in VND with USD at the reference rate of 25,500 VND per dollar, which is what the booking form uses.

Getting there

Sleeper bus + car vs private car

There are two ways to cover the roughly 600 km round trip between Da Lat and Moc Bai. The combo is the budget option. The private car is the comfort option. Both include the border fixer, so the only real difference is the ride.

🚌

Sleeper bus + car combo

Overnight bus from Da Lat to HCMC the night before, then a private car from the bus station to Moc Bai and back.

  • •Bus: 900,000 VND per person
  • •Car transfer: 1,600,000 VND per car
  • •Solo traveler: from 2,500,000 VND
  • •Bus leaves Da Lat around 22:00
🚗

Private car (direct)

A car picks you up at your door in Da Lat before dawn and drives you to Moc Bai and back the same day. No transfers, no bus station waiting.

  • •Flat 5,000,000 VND per car
  • •Up to 4 passengers in the price
  • •Door-to-door, hotel pickup
  • •Back in Da Lat by 19:00-21:00

Which one should you pick?

The combo wins on price if you are traveling alone or in a pair and do not mind a night on a bus. The private car wins the moment you are a group of three or four, because the 5,000,000 VND is per car, not per person. Four people in a private car pay 1,250,000 VND each, which beats the combo for roughly the same money, and you keep a full day in Da Lat instead of losing the night to travel.

What the transport price includes

Tolls, fuel, the bilingual driver, blankets, water, and snacks are all in the fare. The Tay Ninh fixer who queues with you at immigration is included too. What is not included: the Cambodia visa fee and any Vietnam visa fees, which are listed separately below.

At the border

The Cambodia visa at Moc Bai / Bavet

To do a visa run you have to actually leave Vietnam, which means crossing into Cambodia at Bavet, right across from Moc Bai. Unless your passport is visa-exempt for Cambodia, you need a visa on arrival. The standard tourist visa costs around 30 to 35 USD at the counter, paid in cash. US dollars are preferred; the exchange booths on the Cambodian side give poor rates, so bring clean USD bills.

When you book with us, the Cambodia visa is handled as a 1,100,000 VND add-on (about 43 USD). The fixer fills the form, queues the visa-on-arrival line, pays the fee, and escorts you across to Bavet and back. If you are from a visa-exempt nationality, you skip the visa but still follow the fixer so your exit and re-entry stamps get done cleanly and photographed for the record.

Bring backup cash

Even if you prepay the visa add-on, carry 50 USD in small bills as a safety net. Border fees, photo requests, and the occasional "processing" surcharge are easier to handle when you have cash on you. You will not need it most days, but the one day you do, you will be glad it is in your pocket.

Coming back in

The 90-day Vietnam E-Visa add-on

Exiting Vietnam uses up your current visa or exemption days. To re-enter you need a fresh one. The cleanest option for most people is the 90-day E-Visa, which we submit while you are on the Cambodian side so it is ready when you come back through Moc Bai.

E-Visa option VND USD approx. Good for
90-day single entry 2,400,000 VND ~94 USD One entry, 90 days
90-day multiple entry 3,100,000 VND ~122 USD Unlimited entries, 90 days

Multiple entry makes sense if you plan to leave Vietnam again within the 90 days, for a side trip to Cambodia, Thailand, or Laos. If you are staying put, single entry saves you 700,000 VND.

Faster processing if you need it

The standard E-Visa add-on is handled same-day on a weekday run. If you are on a tight schedule, faster tiers are available on the prices page. Immigration processes visas Monday to Friday, so rush tiers need a weekday exit for a true same-day turnaround. Weekend runs are fine for the standard tier, just plan on the approval landing early the next week.

Quick answers

Cost questions people actually ask

Can I pay in USD or only VND?

Private cars are paid on return to Da Lat, in VND or USD cash, or by bank transfer. Visa and add-on fees accept Wise or Revolut. Cambodia border fees are USD cash.

Is the price per person or per car?

The private car is per car, up to four passengers. The sleeper bus is per person, plus a per-car transfer on the HCMC side. Visas are always per person.

What if my visa expires the day of the run?

Do not cut it that fine. Go at least 2 to 3 days before expiry so a delay on the road or a long queue at Moc Bai cannot turn an exit into an overstay. See the full Da Lat visa run guide for timing details.
